Evolve and Layers of Fear come to Xbox free in March

Ultimately, Evolve got delayed until 2015, the game was released and left our thoughts just as quickly as it had entered.

Microsoft has today revealed March's Games with Gold titles for Xbox One and Xbox 360 and I'll be honest, I'm a little confused.

The first game coming for Xbox One owners is the horror game Layers of Fear. As always, these games will be playable on Xbox One too thanks to backwards compatibility. Expect plenty of puzzles, secrets and jump scares when Layers of Fear becomes available to download for free from March 1 to 31. This 4v1 monster hunting game will be available to download from March 16 to April 15.

On the Xbox 360 front, the classic vault-hunting adventure Borderlands 2 will be free of charge from March 1 through the 15, and from the 16 through the 31, you'll be able to snag PopCap's classic shooting game Heavy Weapon, taking on threats both in the air and on the ground through your heavily armored tank.

March will kick off with both Layers of Fear and Borderlands 2, with the former being available until the end of the month. Well, you can't win every month for free games and getting something is better than nothing.

With a selection of old releases and cheap indie games, March isn't the strongest lineup we've seen Xbox give us through Games With Gold. Finally, Heavy Weapon is a side-scrolling shoot 'em up game from 2005. Are you satisfied, or are you hoping for newer games like Quantum Break and Halo 5 to make the list? You can take a look at a quick video for the month down below.
