Spurs, City win to stay in Premier League chasing pack

After Spurs' dramatic 3-2 victory over Everton at White Hart Lane, defender Jan Verthongen was tasked with speaking to his club's official fan channel.

A two-goal lead was an accurate reflection of Tottenham's dominance up to that point, but Lukaku took full advantage of a slip from the otherwise excellent Vertonghen to halve Everton's deficit with nine minutes remaining.

Just 20 minutes into their Premier League clash with Everton at White Hart Lane and Tottenham Hotspurs have a 1-0 lead!

WHEN Everton looked dead and buried at 2-0 down against Tottenham on Sunday, there was only one man Ronald Koeman could rely on to kickstart his team.

This prompted Spurs to wake up a bit and they nearly got a third goal when Kane was through on goal one on one with Robles but this time the keeper made a save as the striker tried to dink the ball over him.

"It's an important win, we should have won by more but it's another step closer to the top of the table".

Dele Alli restored the two-goal cushion in injury-time before substitute Enner Valencia added another goal seconds later to complete a dramatic finish at White Hart Lane.

He had previously had a loan spell at Leyton Orient in League One and then after he had spells in the Championship with Millwall and Leiecester alongside struggling to beak into the Norwich team in the Premier League during the 2012-13 season.

That's how the scoreline stayed, as City leapfrogged Arsenal into third with their fourth consecutive league win, and are now just a point behind Tottenham with a game in hand.

David Moyes' side gave as good as they got for most of the opening period with Jermain Defoe a constant threat. Verthongen: "Yeah, very good!"

"They created more chances than we did".

"It's fantastic to make history with our supporters", said Pochettino.
