As aforementioned, Source Crystals are basically in-game currency that allow you spend on cosmetic features for your characters.
NetherRealm Studios has officially announced that "Injustice 2" will feature a microtransaction system at launch.
WB says that Source Crystals can be purchased using real money, but they are not required in order to progress further in the game.
You can also Transform Gear with Source Crystals. The Crystals will be used for buying skins and shaders to alter the look of your fighters. The video also showcased actual gameplay footage of the character who didn't come much of a surprise for gaming analysts and enthusiasts, as NetherRealm boss Ed Boon already teased the superhero last December.
There's no pricing model available for Source Crystals just yet. Premiere Skins are essentially new looks for characters that can change their appearance and voice.
Earlier this week, we got our first look at Firestorm in Injustice 2, but today, we're properly introduced the flame-throwing hero, who'll be joining the likes of Doctor Fate and Supergirl as major additions to the franchise roster.
While getting a closer look at Firestorm's move set will nearly assuredly please most Injustice 2 fans, it's safe to say that they won't be completely satisfied until the entire roster is set in stone. If you have ranked one character up to level 20, you can use the Source Crystals to level other characters up to the same level. Moreover, the developer said the microtransactions "won't affect gameplay or game progression".
