Amazon Just Made Alexa Easier to Use

In addition to launching the new Fire TV Stick in the UK, Amazon also announced a software update that will bring Alexa to all Fire TV devices in the UK. Today Amazon also announced that it will be pushing out an update that adds Alexa to all Fire TV hardware in the UK.

The all-new Fire TV Stick with Alexa Voice Remote is available today for £39.99 from Amazon.

As part of the update, those with the original Fire TV Voice Remote will now gain the capabilities of the Alexa Voice Remote that ships with the second-generation Fire TV Stick in the United Kingdom today.

Amazon's voice assistant has finally arrived on British television screens, with the latest edition of its Fire TV stick. From there, it will stream content to your TV using your home's broadband connection.

The update bringing Alexa to existing Fire TV devices will roll out to customers over the coming weeks.

At the time of announcement, being able to control your TV by voice was a novel thing in the United Kingdom, but even in that short time we've seen Sky Q introduce voice control, as well as the launch of Google Home on these shores. And after all, speaking commands like "Alexa, ask Uber to request a ride", without looking at a screen is Alexa's grand promise, isn't it?

"This is a big day for Fire TV customers". It features a new quad-core processor that makes it 30 percent faster than the previous version, according to the company.

Alexa is the cloud-based voice service that powers devices like Amazon Echo, Echo Dot and Fire TV. Using that remote, you can turn your Fire TV Stick into something of an Alexa hub, having her search channels, rent movies, or even order food while you watch.
