Israel has shot down "a target" over Golan Heights on the border with Syria, hours after it was accused of a missile strike at a military site near Damascus' worldwide airport.
'Naturally, I don't want to elaborate on this'.
Tensions between Israel and Syria regularly escalate to hostility, with IDF planes striking targets in Syria in response to cross-border fire incidents and attacking groups, which Israel deems hostile, inside the country.
However, Channel1iba's Amichai Stein reported multiple military personnel were killed in the strike.
An unnamed intelligence source said the air raid was Israeli and targeted an arms depot.
Syrian state news agency Sana said several missiles had been fired at a military site south-west of the airport, causing explosions that resulted in some material losses.
Throughout the Syrian war, which began in March 2011, Israel has made it clear it would not allow shipments of weapons from Iran to Hezbollah units fighting in Syria.
His statement was echoed by Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova, who said, "Gross violations of Syrian sovereignty, no matter how they are justified, are unacceptable", she said, adding that "Moscow condemns acts of aggression against Syria".
"The prime minister has said that whenever we receive intelligence that indicated an intention to transfer advanced weapons to Hezbollah, we will act".
Hezbollah is a Lebanese terrorist organization that fought a war against Israel in 2006, and is sponsored by Iran.
The airport itself lies about 15 miles southeast of the capital, but locals said the blast was so big it rung out across the city.
Speaking to Israel's Army Radio, Intelligence Minister, Yisrael Katz, vaguely confirmed the strike was in line with Israeli policy to prevent "Iran's smuggling of advanced weapons via Syria to Hezbollah".
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, Netanyahu said: "Iran is trying to establish itself permanently in Syria, with a military presence on the ground and at sea, and also a gradual attempt to open a front against us on the Golan Heights".
