Dana White 'confident' Conor McGregor will fight again after boxing Floyd Mayweather

"Conor told me this morning the McGregor clan has been taking over villages for 300 years", White said, "and that Floyd's village is next".

McGregor has already applied for a boxing license in Nevada and while he has never boxed professionally, he does have some amateur experience from his youth.

McGregor has to score a knockout to win.

"People always think it's a game or it's an act", McGregor - a 6/1 underdog according to bookmakers' opening lines - said.

What I am bemoaning is that the spotlight that is on this farce should be on a couple of other fights that are real.

Amore recently took to Twitter and he made it clear that he'll be rooting for Floyd Mayweather on August 26th, and he also told McGregor that if Mayweather doesn't knock him out, he will. The August fight date was also confirmed by Showtime executive vice president Stephen Espinoza.

White, who took part in negotiations on behalf of McGregor, said: "We have been in talks for a while".

"Anything can happen so that's why I like to watch from the outside, it's unknown, you don't know what's going to happen", the American said.

In the official announcement by Showtime Boxing, Mauro Ranallo has been named as the lead play-by-play announcer for the Conor McGregor vs. Floyd Mayweather fight.

But in a boxing match, Pacquiao naturally sees Mayweather as having the upperhand.

"All these UFC guys, they are very tough, tough guys".

Boxing is a component of McGregor's sport, mixed martial arts, but it's only one piece of the puzzle.

Mayweather is looking to make history of his own if he reaches 50-0 and retires with that undefeated record.
