9 people shot, including 3 children, at gender reveal party

A mass shooting near Cincinnati Saturday night left a woman dead and eight others wounded, including three children.

Officers responded to the 9900 block of Capstan Drive at approximately 11:20 p.m. for a 911 reported multiple gunshots.

Another witness told police that the two male shooters were wearing hooded sweatshirts.

Although there is no one in custody, police said 911 calls and radio logs indicate that there may have been two shooters, WCPO reports.

Three children were shot; their injuries, however, were not life-threatening, the report said.

NBC affiliate WLWT reported eight people were injured and the University of Cincinnati Medical Center is treating five victims.

The pregnant woman was shot in the leg and suffered a miscarriage. Other victims were listed in critical, stable and serious condition at area hospitals.

It was a typically "tranquil" summer Saturday in an OH neighborhood as people gathered at an afternoon gender-reveal party that stretched into the night in the Cincinnati area.

The suburban police department asked Cincinnati Police crime scene investigators help them process the scene of the shooting. A Colerain Township police spokesman says the motive for the shooting is unknown.

A gender reveal party is a celebration to reveal the sex of an expectant baby.

"You're hoping that there won't be situations like this", Love said.
