Brides panic as Alfred Angelo closes stores nationwide

Brides and bridal parties across the country are panicking after Alfred Angelo bridal stores across the country closed with less than one day's warning.

OH bride-to-be Amber McGraw said she didn't know how to describe the "sick feeling" she had paying "for a wedding dress I won't get".

A store manager at the Mission Valley location told NBC 7 they will stop carrying the Alfred Angelo line, but all the dresses previously ordered will be provided.

That threw Freeburg and thousands of other brides across the country into limbo. Now she doesn't think she will ever see it again and her wedding is 12 weeks away. "Then my best friend texts me, 'Call me ASAP".

A woman, who did not want to be named, told Local 10 News on Thursday that she had to rush to pick up her bridal party dress before the store she purchased it from closed. There was no answer at any of their listed phone numbers, even for the hundreds of smaller wedding stores that they supply dresses for.

However, many others walked out empty-handed. "There's no guarantee we'll get it back, with them going bankrupt, we can dispute it with our bank, but there's no guarantee we'll get our money or our dresses", said Cassidy.

As frustrating as the situation was for the customers, many were concerned for the stores employees.

Brides were in for a surprise when they were met with locked doors at Alfred Angelo and a sign reading "due to unforeseen circumstances, we will only be open to customers who are picking up their orders". Johnson said the worker told her she needed to complete the task by 3 p.m. Friday. They operated 60 signature stores nationally and offered an exclusive Disney-inspired wedding dress.

The Times reports that staff stayed and worked for free Thursday to help as many brides as they could.

"I hope it's the correct one with all the accessories", McDonough said in an email.

Little information has been posted about how and when customers will receive their orders, or if the orders will be filled at all. "Our whole wedding is over if we can't get that dress". Sales rep said "we're all basically screwed" & gave me Attorney's office to contact.

As recently as three days ago the company posted a tweet highlighting one of their mermaid dresses for sale.
